Having originally been selected to provide a full temporary gym for the England Football team at the Euros in 2016 in France- Perform Better were again selected to provide a larger facility at the England team’s training base near St Petersburg in Russia two years later for the 2018 World Cup. In the same year Perform Better were selected to fully refurbish the Performance gym at St George’s Park National Football Centre.
When planning started two years ago for the Qatar 2022 World Cup- the FA Performance Department again came to Perform Better to design and equip the team’s training facilities. In addition to setting up a large gym in the the Al Wakrah Sports Complex the Performance team also wanted to set up a small outdoor gym at the Souq Al Wakra Hotel. The PB design team worked with the FA Performance team to design the two facilities to ensure space was fully utilised and the players had all the equipment they use in their Club training facilities.
Once the facilities were designed and equipment specified the PB operations team then worked with the FA’s logistics team to plan the packing, shipping and set up of all the equipment. The PB install team travelled out to Qatar to meet the equipment and flooring and make sure the installation process ran smoothly and the facilities were fully operational by the time the squad arrived.
In the Training base gym three PB Performance Power Racks were installed along with a range of Olympic Discs and Bars, Kettlebells, Hydro Balls, Strength Bands, BFR Cuffs, Bi-Lateral Leg Press, Keiser Functional Trainer, Glute Ham Bench and Performance Flooring. This was complemented by equipment shipped over from the St George’s Park National Football Centre gym. In the Hotel gym two Performance Half Racks were installed along with a range of Olympic discs and bars, Kettlebells and Keiser Functional Trainer. In addition a range of recovery and play equipment was supplied to be used during the Squad’s pool recovery sessions.
With the tight turnround between matches- the gym and recovery sessions were a key part of the Team’s training schedule during the tournament and it was great to see the Squad getting full use out of the facilities.
The relationship with the Football Association that has developed over the past few years is something that Perform Better as a Company are particularly proud of.
