MILTON KEYNES COLLEGE

Perform Better have transformed our gym at Milton Keynes College into a fantastic strength and conditioning space. Following initial consultation they provided us with digital drawings of what the equipment would look like and how it would be laid out in our facility then installed it to a very high standard. The new squat racks and lifting platform will enhance the training experience of the college football team and our sport science and personal training courses. I would highly recommend Perform Better to enhance any fitness space that you may have.

- Ian Greenwood, Course Team Leader and Lecturer: Sport and Exercise, Strength and Conditioning Coach: MKC Football Academy

The team at Milton Keynes wanted to alter the layout to create more space and make more lifting stations available for their students and external teams in their courtside gym. This was both to meet the demands of the academic program but also requirements of group sessions with close college partners and teams.

Perform Better were asked to consult on the project and throughout the project worked closely with Course Team Leader & Lecturer, Ian Greenwood.

Project Brief:

The team at Milton Keynes wanted to alter the layout to create more space and make more lifting stations available for their students and external teams in their courtside gym. This was both to meet the demands of the academic program but also requirements of group sessions with close college partners and teams.

Perform Better were asked to consult on the project and throughout the project worked closely with Course Team Leader & Lecturer, Ian Greenwood.

Solution

The decision was made to move the existing freestanding functional rig to a downstairs studio area. This would free up a large space in the gym and allow the rig to be used fully in its new location. The Perform Better installation team carried out the full breakdown, move and re assembly of the rig.

The team were then able to create a bespoke double half rack, storage pod, to fit the space allocated once the new layout had been decided. This solution was made up of two low profile half racks, connected by multiple storage trays, mounted on a 32mm DuraTrain platform. The connected storage allows weights, kettlebells and wall balls to be stored within its footprint, freeing up space for other equipment around the gym. The platform provides both sound insulation and shock absorption, allowing Olympic lifts to now be performed.

Full design images and drawings were provided to the college to confirm the exact specifications prior to manufacture. Installation was coordinated around lower demand times to minimize disruption the college.
