As such Newport High School required an elite strength and conditioning facility for their top performing athletes.
Overview
As part of the Wales Rugby programme, the School were able to take advantage of equipment Perform Better had put together with the Welsh Rugby Union.
The Dragons Region Junior Rugby Academy is a joint initiative with the Welsh Rugby Union Rugby Development team with their 1st Xv rugby team playing in the WRU U18 College League. Newport RFC has also joined this partnership and supports the initiative by providing specialist coaching and conditioning support. The link with Newport RFC also creates a pathway for players with potential into the Welsh Premiership.
Through sport, the school helps students develop their fitness, a sense of well-being, improved confidence and co-operation and an understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy life-style.
