Grayson's standout performances – including scoring 21 points in their match against Wales – helped England to win the Under-18s Five Nations Festival.
Son of Saints legend Paul Grayson, James earned the call-up to the England Under-20s squad during the 2017 Six Nations and came off the bench against Wales to earn his first cap. He was then called into the Under-20s squad for the 2017 and 2018 World Rugby Under-20s Championships in Georgia and France.
Grayson helped the Wanderers lift the Premiership Rugby A League trophy on two occasions, defeating Gloucester United and Exeter Braves in two consecutive finals. He broke into the first team midway through the 2017/18 season, with a fine display in the No.10 jersey against Worcester Warriors on the final day ending the campaign on a high note.
In 2019 Grayson was voted break-through player of the year in the Premiership Cup, after Northampton Saints reach the final.
