Perform Better and SW7 Academy join forces in new partnership

Perform Better, the UK’s leading supplier of Strength and Conditioning and Sports Science equipment to the elite sports and education sectors, have partnered with SW7 Academy to create a package for schools to develop their understanding and application of all areas of sport, health and wellbeing for students and teachers alike.

SW7 Academy, headed up by Sam Warburton (Wales and British Lions Rugby legend) and Chris Tombs (elite sports and education delivery specialist) have developed an Athlete Development Programme for schools that want to access professional level coaching, as well as technology and data to drive performance, and assist coaches and teachers in the accountability, consistency and structure for all pupils, not just the elite.

Starting with developing the new SW7 Academy facility outside Cardiff, where Perform Better will install a state-of-the-art training facility to be accessed by schools and athletes alike, both companies will then work together in the delivery of a unique package to schools.

With Perform Better’s facility design expertise and sports science knowledge, it will provide the tools for SW7 to deliver the programme and support schools to develop their provision across all areas.

Perform Better’s Director Mark Gladwin says: “We are excited and privileged to be partnering with SW7, as our visions are very much aligned. The development of this school sports programme is just the start of how we can work together and our recent brainstorming session opened up lots of opportunities where our combined minds can work in many areas of synergy. I am looking forward to seeing what the future brings for us all.”

Perform Better’s Education Segment Manager, Sam Vagg, says: “I’m very proud to establish this partnership with SW7. From our first conversations, it’s been clear we are on the same direction of travel with our vision for supporting the fitness, health and wellbeing of the nation’s youth population. I believe the partnership will help both companies to provide holistic, transformational, and ultimately, best fit solutions to our community.”

SW7 Founder, Sam Warburton says: “SW7 itself was created purely because it is everything I would have wanted when I was a fledgling sportsman taking my first steps on to the rugby pitch at school, and our partnership with Perform Better is an extension of that. I know from experience that the work Perform Better puts in to creating elite level training facilities is about so much more than simply the equipment involved. Their knowledge and expertise in creating elite level training environments is second to none and I’m delighted that SW7 will be working more closely with them in the future.”

Perform Better was formed in 2007 by co-founders Alastair Yule and Mark Gladwin with the vision to be the one-stop-shop for all S&C and Sports Science equipment for the Elite and Professional Sports Market. Over the following 16 years the growth of Education (Schools and Higher Education) has boosted their growth and allowed them to establish a dedicated segment manager to grow this market. Perform Better are the Official S&C Partner to the Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s.

SW7 Academy was established in 2019 after Sam Warburton and his partner Josh Davies identified a space in the market for athletes competing at all levels and in all kinds of sporting environments to gain access to the kind of elite level coaching and expertise normally reserved for professionals. SW7 provides programmes for sports performance and for the general population, nutritional advice and more to individuals and teams on a squad, corporate, VIP and educational level.
