MANCHESTER METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY

When Manchester City FC Academy moved out of their Platt Lane Training

Ground facility and into the Etihad Campus in 2013- Manchester Metropolitan

University took over the facility and created a new Elite Strength and

Conditioning facility for the University’s Performance athletes. Perform Better

had supplied the original equipment to the Football Club, and were selected by

MMU to add more equipment and flooring into the space.

In 2023 the University decided the space was too small and made the decision

to increase the size of the facility by knocking down the wall between the

adjoining lab area. PB were again selected to equip the new facility and worked

closely with the University Performance team to design the larger space.

New Performance flooring and turf track were installed along with branded

lifting platforms complemented with a range of Elite Power and Half Racks with

Smith and ISO Testing integration.

The equipment installed included:

Elite Power Rack x 2

Elite Half Rack x 6

Elite Half Rack with Smith x 2

Prone Row Bench

Leg Extension/Curl

Dual Adjustable Pulley

Dumbbell Set

ISO Attachments on Power Racks

Medicine Ball Wall

Strength Bands

TRX

Nordic Pad

“Over the last few months we have worked closely with Perform

Better to transform our previous strength and conditioning space

into an outstanding performance facility. The support throughout the

process and the quality of the equipment provided has been of a very

high standard. This now provides a great platform for our strength and

conditioning coach development programme and academic delivery,

creating new opportunities and strengthening the link between both

services. “

Dan Pyke - Strength & Conditioning Coach, Manchester Metropolitan

University.
